Why do standard assembly fixtures fail for radar modules?

Because dimensionally correct is not functionally aligned. A module can be mounted within positional tolerance and still be outside boresight tolerance, since fastening itself shifts alignment. Only a functional check after fastening catches that.

Why re-check alignment after fastening?

Fastening shift is real and specific to the joint. Alignment measured before torque does not predict alignment after it, so the check that matters is the one performed on the assembled state.

What is a sealed self-test routine?

A test the station executes end to end without operator interpretation, producing a pass or fail plus the measured values behind it. Sealing the routine is what makes results comparable across shifts and stations.

Do we get per-unit alignment reports?

Yes. Each unit carries its own boresight and torque record, which is what a containment request needs. The record ties to the unit identifier used by material traceability.

Which standards frame this?

Functional safety context follows ISO 26262, fastening follows VDI/VDE 2862 and ISO 6789, and capability reporting follows ISO 22514 with measurement-system analysis per AIAG MSA. Applicability depends on your programme scope.
