Why are standard functional tests not sufficient?

Because you only test the failures you anticipated. A pass or fail against a single set point says nothing about behaviour across the operating envelope, and the failures that reach customers are usually the ones just outside the point that was checked.

What is envelope coverage under a takt budget?

The real constraint: you cannot test every condition within cycle time, so you choose which points buy the most coverage per second spent. The station makes that trade explicit rather than defaulting to whatever fits.

Why report Cp and Cpk rather than pass rates?

A pass rate tells you nothing about margin. Capability indices show how much room the process has before it starts producing failures, which is what lets you act before the reject rate moves.

Can one station handle multiple variants?

Yes. Test sequences are per variant, selected from the unit identifier at load, so a mixed-model line does not need a station per model or an operator choosing the right programme.

How does it integrate with ERP and traceability?

Results post against the unit identifier over the IEC 62264-3 boundary, so the test record becomes part of that unit genealogy rather than a separate file on the station PC.
